Rugby Academy

Rugby has long been part of Hinckley’s proud sporting heritage, and at The Hinckley School, it stands as a cornerstone of our identity. We believe rugby has the power to develop not only athletic performance but also the personal qualities that define strong, capable, and compassionate young people.

Through our Rugby Academy model, we provide every student regardless of experience or ability with the opportunity to participate, learn, and excel. Our programme emphasises character, commitment, and community, creating an environment where players are challenged to grow on and off the field.

We are proud to have established strong partnerships with Hinckley Rugby Club (HRFC) and the RFU, allowing our students to benefit from professional coaching, joint training sessions, and unique development opportunities. These relationships connect our players to the local rugby community and create clear pathways for continued participation at club and regional level.

At The Hinckley School, rugby is more than a sport  it is a vehicle for leadership, teamwork, and lifelong learning. From our youngest Year 7 players, taking their first steps onto the pitch, to our senior teams competing in regional competitions, we promote the values of respect, discipline, teamwork, and humility in everything we do.

Our commitment extends beyond performance. We celebrate effort, inclusion, and the spirit of the game, ensuring that every student boys and girls alike can be part of something special. With teams now competing from Year 7 to Year 13, and the growth of girls’ rugby at KS3 and KS4, the game is thriving across the school.

Whether representing the school at a festival, leading a warm-up session as part of our Rugby Leadership Pathway, or inspiring younger pupils through community coaching, our students embody what it means to wear the Hinckley badge with pride.

Our Vision

To establish The Hinckley School as a centre of rugby excellence where every player, regardless of background or ability, can develop their skills, character, and ambition through a shared love of the game.

Our Mission

  • To provide inclusive opportunities for boys and girls to participate in rugby from Year 7 to Year 13.
  • To nurture talent through expert coaching, competitive fixtures, and clear pathways into community and regional rugby.
  • To instil rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, and sportsmanship in every player.
  • To strengthen partnerships with local clubs, national bodies, and alumni to enhance opportunities and raise standards.
  • To inspire a lifelong connection to rugby and the values it represents — on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
“We are building a rugby culture founded on respect, discipline, and teamwork — one that strives for excellence and aims to place The Hinckley School among the leading rugby schools in the country. By uniting our players, coaches, and community, we are creating something lasting — a programme built on pride, purpose, and performance, where success is defined not only by results, but by the strength of our values and our commitment to one another.”
