World Book Day

Celebrating our love of reading for pleasure on World Book Day!
The Bridge went big on their celebrations for World Book Day this year, with the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book characters (including The Bridge Team!) , door decorating and a character potato competition! Year 7 students also enjoyed themed lessons throughout the day including Percy Jackson flaming dodgeball, quidditch badminton, composing a Dr Seuss rap in music and Harry Potter potions classes in Science. All students in Year 7 also received a £1 World Book Day token to help them add to their book collection at home.
Science was a particular highlight for many, as classes entered the pages of Harry Potter to experience jaw dropping experiments and activities, including screaming jelly babies, dragons breath and methane bubbles!
Ms Crisp also held a series of activities and events in the Library to mark the occasion. Students had the opportunity to take part in a ’guess the ’shelfie’ competition, - with staff anonymously submitted a photo of their book shelves, 100 word writing competition, and finally a lunchtime game of ‘Give us a Clue’. Congratulations to ‘Team Paddington’ for being crowned the winners of the lunchtime event!
