Art Students Find Inspiration in the Capital
GCSE and A Level Art students explored national galleries to gain inspiration for their next projects
Our GCSE and A-Level Art students recently enjoyed an inspiring trip to London, where they glimpsed some of the city’s most iconic artistic landmarks throughout their journey. At the National Gallery, students had the unforgettable opportunity to view Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers up close, studying the texture, colour, and emotion behind this world famous masterpiece.
The visit continued at the National Portrait Gallery, where students explored a rich collection of portraits—from historical figures to contemporary icons—gathering valuable research and creative ideas for their coursework projects. The day concluded with a fun and interactive visit to Madame Tussauds, where students experienced the artistry and craftsmanship behind the museum’s lifelike wax figures. Highlights included the Marvel 4D Experience and the Spirit of London Ride, which offered an engaging mix of creativity, storytelling, and technology.
These immersive attractions not only showcased the artistry behind set design and sculpture, but also gave students a fresh perspective on how art and innovation can combine to create unforgettable experiences. Overall, it was an inspiring and educational day that deepened students’ appreciation for both traditional and modern art forms.
Our students fully embraced the visit, enthusiastically posing with the wax figures and capturing creative photo opportunities throughout the museum. In fact, it became something of a running joke that we kept bumping into Year 11 student Ryan—always mid pose—making the most of every snapshot moment! It was a fantastic end to a day filled with art, laughter, and inspiration.
