Audition for Matilda

Audition for our upcoming school musical .... Matilda!

Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to be staging ‘Matilda’ the musical later this year following the huge success of ‘Grease’ and continuing our tradition of staging high-quality shows here at The Hinckley School. Our students are incredibly talented and year after year our school shows not only shine a light on the rich Performing Arts talent we have at our school, but also on the strength of our student team work, maturity and community spirit.

Student participation is vital to ensure show success, they not only gain a wider skill set by taking part, but create life long memories and friendships. Our cast is always filled with students of all ages, all year groups and all levels of performing experience, creating an exciting and welcoming atmosphere for all who take part.

It is with great pleasure that we can now share the dates for our ‘Matilda’ auditions and encourage students from all year groups to get involved, whether that be as part of the ensemble, in a lead role or supporting backstage.

• Ensemble/Chorus Auditions – Wednesday 13th September, Main Hall, 3pm-4:30pm
During this audition students will be working with the Performing Arts Team to learn a routine and then perform it together as a group. This session will focus on confidence building as a group and team work. No individual ‘on the spot’ performances.
Ensemble / chorus auditions are open to everyone.

• Principle Auditions – Monday 11th September, Main Hall, allotted time slots until 5:30pm
Students who would like to audition for a lead principle role should visit the Performing Arts Office to choose a sign-up slot. This will inform the time of their audition.
Students for this session will have a read-through and sing a song, preferably from Matilda, however any song may be performed.
Principle auditions are open to everyone.

• If students would like to support in a backstage role, then they should speak to a member of the Performing Arts Team.

We hope to see students from all year groups at the upcoming auditions and look forward to welcoming parents, carers and the wider community to this exciting production!

Yours Sincerely,
Mrs K Cook Head of Performing Arts
