Hinckley Area Foodbank thank students for their generous donation to help lour ocal community.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated as part of our Tins for Trainers event before the half-term break. We have once again been amazed by the generosity of our community and welcomed a member of the team from Hinckley Area Foodbank on Thursday afternoon to collect our overflowing donation boxes.

Jim Matthews from the Hinckley Area Foodbank shared his heartfelt thanks for the school's 'sizeable donation', as students and staff helped transfer over 20 boxes and bags of donations into crates, which after being processed at the foodbank were calculated as follows:

  • Donation weight - 279.8kg
  • The monetary value is equivalent to - £775.77
  • This is equivalent to providing approximately 650 meals
  • Based on the usual 3-day emergency provision for a single person, this would therefore meet the needs of 72 people

As well as thanking students and their families, the foodbank team thanked the event organiser and Head of Year 10, Mr Toor for his 'drive and enthusiasm' in planning the 'Tins for Trainers' fundraiser.

We are thankful that we have been able to support our local community in this way, and we know these donations will make such a difference to families throughout our local area.

Thank you to the foodbank team for their tireless work to support our community, we look forward to supporting this community cause again in the future.

On their behalf, from people your school community may never know about, please can I extend a heartfelt THANK YOU!

- Jim Matthews, Hinckley Area Foodbank
